The steering column upper shaft on your vehicle may have been manufactured outside of required specifications, and it is possible for the steering column upper shaft to separate.
Safety Risk
If a separation occurs, the steering wheel may become inoperable with a loss of vehicle control, which could increase the risk of injury or a crash.
Remedy
Parts are available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect and possibly replace the steering column upper shaft free of charge.
