Frequently Asked Questions

Why are there so many recalls?

The increase in recalls reflects our intensive strategy to quickly find and fix any hardware and software issues and go the extra mile to help protect customers. It’s all part of our commitment to significantly improving product quality and the customer service experience. We’re being recognized for it. Ford was the most awarded brand for new vehicle quality* in the recent JD Power 2025 U.S. Initial Quality Study, with four Ford vehicles topping their segments. Additionally, Ford was named #1 in Customer Satisfaction for Dealership Service among Truck Owners in the JD Power 2026 U.S. Customer Service Index (CSI) Study, including being rated #1 for Service Quality by truck owners.**

What is the issue tied to this safety recall?

Damage to the wiper arm spline may result in erratic wiper arm speed, an inoperable wiper arm, or the wiper arm becoming detached from the vehicle. If the wiper arm fails, it can reduce visibility in certain conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.

What is the cause of the issue?

The issue is most likely to occur when wipers are used in conditions such as heavy snow where high torque may strip the wiper spline. The issue is a combination of two factors. One, incorrect staking of the latch retention plate by the supplier; two, an overlap of teeth engagement between an undersized knurl and the arm head.

Haven’t you already recalled these vehicles for this same issue?

Ford previously issued recalls 22S26 and 23S10 for a similar issue. However, ongoing monitoring showed that vehicles produced outside the populations covered by those recalls were also experiencing issues with wiper arms. This new recall, 26S24, expands the population to ensure all affected customers are covered.

Will vehicles affected by prior recalls for this issue be recalled again?

Not necessarily. This recall targets a specific production window not covered by the previous actions. We’re investigating if vehicles repaired under 22S26 and 23S10 need to be included.

How soon until a fix is available?

A remedy is expected to be available on or around June 29, 2026.

Should I stop driving my vehicle?

Is Ford Mobile Service available?
