Description

On your vehicle, frequent full articulation of the rear suspension may increase the stress on the rear suspension toe link, which may, over time, result in a toe link fracture.

Safety Risk

Rear toe link fracture while driving could result in a noise, a sudden change in vehicle handling, or difficulty controlling the vehicle increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace your rear suspension toe links free of charge parts and labor.

Description

Rear seat belt buckles in these vehicles are susceptible to end load damage if a heavy object directly impacts the top of the buckle. If these buckles are damaged, the buckle cover may interfere with the normal function of the buckle, which may ultimately prevent the buckle tongue from becoming latched or potentially remaining latched. Depending on the amount of buckle damage, this condition may or may not be obvious to passengers. Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.

Safety Risk

If these buckles are damaged, the buckle cover may interfere with the normal function of the buckle, which may ultimately prevent the buckle tongue from becoming latched or potentially remaining latched, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace specific seat belt buckles in the rear seating positions. Additional buckles in the rear seating positions will be checked, and depending upon the inspection results, will be modified or replaced as needed free of charge parts and labor.

On your vehicle, the driveshaft flexible coupling may crack with increasing mileage, resulting in driveline noise and vibration. Continued driving with a cracked flexible coupling may cause separation of the driveshaft.

Safety Risk

Separation of the driveshaft can result in a loss of motive power while driving, or unintended vehicle movement in park without the parking brake applied. In addition, separation of the driveshaft can result in secondary damage to surrounding components, including brake and fuel lines. A driveshaft separation may increase the risk of injury or crash.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to install an enhanced driveshaft flexible coupling free of charge (parts and labor). Important: the flexible coupling in your vehicle must be replaced even if it was previously replaced as an interim repair or during any servicing.

Description

On your vehicle, the rear view camera could display a blank or distorted image on the center display screen when the vehicle is in reverse. You may also receive a message that the rear view camera is unavailable on the center display screen.

Safety Risk

A rear view camera that displays a blank or distorted image while in reverse can reduce or distort the drivers view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Parts are available to repair your vehicle, if needed. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect the rear view camera operation and replace the camera, if necessary, free of charge.

A cylinder head crack may cause an oil leak that may result in a fire in the engine compartment.

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to install a coolant level sensor system free of charge (parts and labor).

Description

On your vehicle, the driveshaft flexible coupling may crack resulting in driveline noise and vibration. Continued driving with a cracked flexible coupling may cause separation of the driveshaft. This safety recall (19S38) supersedes safety recall 17S15 (NHTSA recall 17V-408).

Safety Risk

When the driveshaft separates, you may lose motive power while driving, and the transmission may not hold the vehicle in park creating the risk of unintended vehicle movement. In addition, a separated driveshaft can damage surrounding components, including brake and fuel lines. A driveshaft separation creates the risk for crash, fires, and injury.

Remedy

Parts are available to perform permanent repairs. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to perform the permanent repair. As a permanent repair, your dealer will replace the front driveshaft section and install a universal joint free of charge (parts and labor). Unless the permanent repair is complete, Ford does not recommend driving your vehicle over 40,000 miles on the driveshaft flexible coupling.

Description

Engine block heater cable splice connectors that had been inspected in accordance with recall 18S45 - 18V894 may have inadvertently become damaged during that service procedure. A damaged block heater cable can cause a resistive short, inoperative engine block heater, and or tripping of household breakers or gfci equipped outlets while the vehicle is parked and the block heater is plugged in.

Safety Risk

The risk to safety only exists while the vehicle is parked and the block heater cable is plugged into an electrical outlet. A resistive short in the engine block heater splice connector can increase the risk of overheated or melted wiring and fire.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to disable your existing engine block heater cord. The disabling of the cord will be done free of charge parts and labor.

Description

Side curtain airbag inspection and adjustment. Certain side curtain air bag assemblies may have been manufactured and installed with a fold orientation that was not to design intent. Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.

Safety Risk

If the side curtain air bag fold is not oriented properly, it may not deploy with proper trajectory. This may influence curtain performance in side impact and/or rollover events, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect and if necessary, adjust the driver andor passenger side curtain airbag free of charge parts and labor.

Next Steps

Description

Certain 2015 and 2016 transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2 l diesel engine may experience fuel volume control valve or fuel injector clogging that could result in a no start or an engine stall while driving without warning or the ability to restart. Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.

Safety Risk

An engine stall while driving, without warning or the ability to restart can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect the fuel system for metallic debris and replace the high pressure fuel pump. If metallic debris is found, your dealer is authorized to also replace all high pressure fuel system components and flush the low pressure fuel system to remove the contamination. This service will be performed free of charge parts and labor.
