Description

On your vehicle, the driveshaft flexible coupling may crack with increasing mileage, resulting in driveline noise and vibration. Continued driving with a cracked flexible coupling may cause separation of the driveshaft.

Safety Risk

Separation of the driveshaft can result in a loss of motive power while driving, or unintended vehicle movement in park without the parking brake applied. In addition, separation of the driveshaft can result in secondary damage to surrounding components, including brake and fuel lines. A driveshaft separation may increase the risk of injury or crash.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to install an enhanced driveshaft flexible coupling free of charge (parts and labor). Important: the flexible coupling in your vehicle must be replaced even if it was previously replaced as an interim repair or during any servicing.

Description

Some of the affected vehicles may develop a brake fluid leak at the rear caliper brake hose joint.

Safety Risk

A brake fluid leak that is not repaired will eventually result in illumination of the red brake warning lamp and display the message -brake fluid level low - service now- in the cluster. In addition, longer brake pedal travel for a given apply force and extended stopping distance may be experienced. In the unlikely event that both circuits leak simultaneously on the same vehicle, a complete loss of service brake effectiveness could eventually occur. Reduction of service brake effectiveness and extended stopping distance can increase the risk of an accident.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the sealing washers on both rear brake caliper to brake hose joints. There will be no charge to owners for this service.

Description

Certain 2015 and 2016 transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2 l diesel engine may experience fuel volume control valve or fuel injector clogging that could result in a no start or an engine stall while driving without warning or the ability to restart. Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.

Safety Risk

An engine stall while driving, without warning or the ability to restart can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect the fuel system for metallic debris and replace the high pressure fuel pump. If metallic debris is found, your dealer is authorized to also replace all high pressure fuel system components and flush the low pressure fuel system to remove the contamination. This service will be performed free of charge parts and labor.

Description

For vehicles equipped with a trailer tow module, water intrusion into the module and connector could cause wiring corrosion and damage to the module.this may result in rapid flashing of the turn signals, loss of the instrument cluster display, loss of heater and air conditioning controls, and loss of multimedia (radio, screens, SYNC). Wiring corrosion from prolonged water intrusion could also result in an electrical short to ground, which could cause an uncommanded seat belt pretensioner deployment, a burning smell and/or an increased risk of fire, including when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off.ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.ford is aware of two reports of vehicle fire on canadian fleet vehicles potentially related to this condition.

Safety Risk

An electrical short to ground in the module can overload the ground wire circuit, increasing the risk of overheated or melted wiring and fire.

Remedy

Parts are available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to add a drainage hole in the drivers footwell and, if necessary, add an inline fuse to the trailer module free of charge parts and labor.

Description

Side curtain airbag inspection and adjustment. Certain side curtain air bag assemblies may have been manufactured and installed with a fold orientation that was not to design intent. Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.

Safety Risk

If the side curtain air bag fold is not oriented properly, it may not deploy with proper trajectory. This may influence curtain performance in side impact and/or rollover events, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect and if necessary, adjust the driver andor passenger side curtain airbag free of charge parts and labor.

The affected vehicles were assembled without an epoxy reinforcement in the windowless sliding doors.

Safety Risk

Although the vehicles without the epoxy reinforcement meet all requtatory requirements for door latching, the affected vehicles have an increased potential of unlatching of the sliding doors during certain side impacts, increasing the risk of injury for unbelted front row occupants on vehicles not equipped with a bulk head.

Remedy

Dealers will install a reinforcement plate into the windowless sliding door assemblies. There will be no charge to owners for this service.

On your vehicle, the driveshaft flexible coupling may crack resulting in driveline noise and vibration. Continued driving with a cracked flexible coupling may cause separation of the driveshaft. This safety recall (19S38) supersedes safety recall 17S15 (NHTSA recall 17V-408).

When the driveshaft separates, you may lose motive power while driving, and the transmission may not hold the vehicle in park creating the risk of unintended vehicle movement. In addition, a separated driveshaft can damage surrounding components, including brake and fuel lines. A driveshaft separation creates the risk for crash, fires, and injury.

Remedy

Parts are available to perform permanent repairs. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to perform the permanent repair. As a permanent repair, your dealer will replace the front driveshaft section and install a universal joint free of charge (parts and labor). Unless the permanent repair is complete, Ford does not recommend driving your vehicle over 40,000 miles on the driveshaft flexible coupling.

Description

Your vehicle was previously repaired under safety recall 15S16 or 16S30. During that repair, your vehicles door latches were to be replaced to help reduce the risk of doors not closing or doors opening while driving. It is possible that one or more of your door latches was not replaced or may not have been replaced correctly.

Safety Risk

If a door latch was not replaced, there is still a risk that the pawl spring tab inside the door latch could break. This condition will typically prevent the door from latching. In certain situations, where the door is able to be closed, the door may unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury

Remedy

The door latch date codes in your vehicle need to be inspected to verify that the previous door latch recall repair was completed as intended. For your convenience and to encourage the continued social distancing requirements by many state and local governments related to COVID-19, Ford is providing you with the option to complete this simple inspection yourself using the attached self-inspection sheet. By utilizing this option, you should not need to take your vehicle to your dealer unless your vehicle is exhibiting door latching concerns door will not latch or opens while driving. In the unlikely event that the system cannot confirm the latches on your vehicle based on your input, or if your vehicle is exhibiting door latching concerns, you will need to take your vehicle to your dealership for additional inspection and/or repairs. If you do not wish to complete this inspection yourself, your dealer will inspect your vehicle for you

Rear seat belt buckles in these vehicles are susceptible to end load damage if a heavy object directly impacts the top of the buckle. If these buckles are damaged, the buckle cover may interfere with the normal function of the buckle, which may ultimately prevent the buckle tongue from becoming latched or potentially remaining latched. Vehicles that are operated in high-corrosion environments associated with long-term exposure to road salt may experience corrosion underneath the fuel tank mounting reinforcement brackets at the weld seam that may cause a small hole to form in the fuel tank resulting in a fuel vapor leak or liquid fuel leak.

Your dealer installed a torsional damper service kit on your dual rear wheel vehicle that was not intended for use on dual rear wheel vehicles. The kit may cause abrasion of the parking brake cable. Over time, abrasion of the parking brake cable could result in cable failure.
