Description

On your vehicle, it may be possible an error in the SYNC software can cause SYNC system instability concerns and or a failure to preserve certain settings across ignition cycles. This may result in an intermittent blank image while in reverse or rear-view image remaining on display after reverse driving has ended. Other non-safety related symptoms may be present such as a black infotainment screen, incorrect language setting, and or potential inability to perform software updates.

Safety Risk

A rear-view camera that intermittently displays a blank image while in reverse can reduce the drivers view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. A rear-view camera that remains on after the backing event has ended can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Software is now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to update the SYNC software on your vehicle free of charge.

Safety Risk

A short circuit in the engine block heater increases the risk of an underhood fire. To reduce the risk of an underhood fire, refrain from plugging in your engine block heater system until remedy parts are available and repair is completed.

Safety Risk

Incorrect information on the tread label may result in the vehicle being overloaded. A vehicle which is loaded beyond its load carrying capacity may have an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy

Included with this letter is the tread label for your vehicle along with installation instructions should you wish to install the label yourself. If you prefer to have your dealer install the tread label, call your dealer and ask for a service date for compliance recall 23C18 to install the tread label. Please remember to bring your tread label with you to your service appointment.

On your vehicle, it is possible that the urethane adhesion of the windshield to the body is inadequate and may not conform to federal Motor vehicle safety standard fmvss 212 windshield mounting.

Safety Risk

An inadequately adhered windshield may not stay adequately retained in a crash, which may increase the risk of injury to an occupant. Affected vehicles could experience increased wind noise or water leaks.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to have the windshield removed and reinstalled using standard service procedures, free of charge parts and labor.

Remedy

Ford has authorized your dealer to perform one of the two following remedies parts are not available. Ford Motor Company is working to provide parts for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge. The remedy is anticipated to be available by the second quarter of 2026. An alternative remedy is also available for owners who would like to disable the vehicles block heater. For those customers that choose this option, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to remove the block heater element and power cable and install a threaded plug free of charge.
