On your vehicle, it may be possible an error in the SYNC software can cause SYNC system instability concerns andor a failure to preserve certain settings across ignition cycles. This may result in an intermittent blank image while in reverse or rear-view image remaining on display after reverse driving has ended. Other non-safety related symptoms may be present such as a black infotainment screen, incorrect language setting, andor potential inability to perform software updates.

A rear-view camera that intermittently displays a blank image while in reverse can reduce the drivers view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. A rear-view camera that remains on after the backing event has ended can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Software is now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to update the SYNC software on your vehicle free of charge.

On your vehicle, the rear seat head restraints may interfere with proper installation of certain taller child seats. Additionally, the lower rear child seat anchorages on your vehicle may be improperly aligned which may increase the difficulty to install a child seat with rigid anchor attachments.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the left and right rear head restraints and perform an inspection of the rear seat child restraint anchorages for straightness and adjust if needed with provided instructions free of charge parts and labor.

On your vehicle, the front passenger outboard seatbelt may have been assembled improperly, allowing the seatbelt to be routed only though the soft rubber trim sleeve and not also routed though the metal anchor eyelet.

Safety Risk

An improperly assembled seatbelt does not comply with the requirements specified by federal Motor vehicle safety standard fmvss no. 208 occupant crash protection occupant protection in frontal impacts, 209 seat belt assemblies and 210 seat belt assembly anchorages and may not adequately restrain occupants in the event of a crash, increasing the risk for injury.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect and replace your front passenger andor driver seatbelt assembly if necessary, free of charge parts and labor.

Incorrect information on the tread label may result in the vehicle being overloaded. A vehicle which is loaded beyond its load carrying capacity may have an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy

Included with this letter is the tread label for your vehicle along with installation instructions should you wish to install the label yourself. If you prefer to have your dealer install the tread label, call your dealer and ask for a service date for compliance recall 23C18 to install the tread label. Please remember to bring your tread label with you to your service appointment.
