Description
Typically, if you were to turn off your vehicle without it being in the park position, you should hear an audible chime and a not in park warning message should display in your instrument cluster. However, on your vehicle, it may be possible that the not in park warning message disappears too quickly with a shortened audible chime.
Safety Risk
If you were to exit the vehicle without it being in the park position or without the parking brake applied, it could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Remedy
Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to reprogram the instrument panel cluster free of charge (parts and labor).
