Description
On your vehicle, the engine block heater element may overheat while the engine block heater system is plugged in.
Safety Risk
In the event of an overheating engine block heater element, engine coolant may leak, and the engine block heater power cable connector may experience heat damage. An overheating engine block heater element increases the risk of an underhood fire.
Remedy
Ford has authorized your dealer to perform one of the two following remedies Ford Motor Company is working to provide parts for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge. The remedy is anticipated to be available by the fourth quarter of 2025. An alternate remedy is also available for owners who would like to disable the vehicles block heater. For those customers that choose this option, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to remove the block heater element and cord and install a threaded plug free of charge.
