The driver airbag inflator in your vehicle may explode in the event of a crash that causes deployment of the driver airbag. If an airbag inflator explodes, sharp metal fragments could strike the driver or other occupants causing serious injury or death.

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the airbag inflator free of charge parts and labor.

Vehicles that are operated in high-corrosion environments associated with long-term exposure to road salt may experience corrosion underneath the fuel tank mounting reinforcement brackets at the weld seam that may cause a small hole to form in the fuel tank resulting in a fuel vapor leak or liquid fuel leak.

Remedy

1. Dealerships will analyze diagnostic trouble codes dtcs and perform a leak test on the canister purge valve cpv. Cpvs will be replaced as necessary. 2. The fuel tank will be inspected for cracks, and will be replaced as necessary. 3. The vehicle powertrain control modules will be reflashed with new software strategy. Ford provided the general reimbursement plan for the cost of remedies paid for by vehicle owners prior to notification of a safety recall in February 2015. The ending date for reimbursement eligibility is January 31, 2016.

Ford is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Ford fusion and mercury milan vehicles equipped with 17 inch steel wheels and built from April 1, 2009, through April 30, 2009, and from December 1, 2009, through November 13, 2010. The wheel studs may fracture, potentially causing a wheel to separate.

Ford Motor Company (ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford fusion and mercury milan, 2006 Lincoln zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln mkz vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.

Safety Risk

The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its to return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace your original rubber all weather floor mats with new rubber all weather floor mats free of charge parts and labor.

An intermittent electrical connection caused by quality issues pertaining to conformal coat contamination and ribbon cable pin misalignment within the steering gear Motor may lead to a loss of the Motor position sensor signal that may result in loss of power steering assist. Ford is aware of 16 accident allegations and three injury allegations related to this condition in the vehicles included in this field action. Most of the accident allegations report that minor vehicle damage was incurred, typically either wheel damage resulting from contact with a curb or minor body damage. The injury allegations were all reported as minor with no indication that medical attention was sought for any of the injuries.

Safety Risk

In the event of a loss of power steering assist, the mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the road is maintained at all times. The steering system will default to manual steering mode, allowing the vehicle to be steered in a safe and controlled manner. Loss of power steering assist is unlikely to be associated with accidents at higher speeds, as the amount of assist supplied is inversely proportional to vehicle speed. Loss of power steering assist would require higher steering effort, especially at lower speeds, which may result in an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to update the power steering control module to prevent loss of steering assist while driving due to a Motor position sensor fault.
