Description
In some of the affected vehicles, the rear right-hand axle shaft may have been manufactured without properly completing the electromagnetic induction heat treatment process, making the axle shaft susceptible to fracture.
Safety Risk
A fractured rear axle shaft could result in a loss of motive power while driving, or vehicle rollaway when the vehicle is placed in park and the parking brake is not applied. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford Motor Company is working closely with its suppliers to produce parts for this repair. Your dealer will inspect your right rear axle shaft to determine if it needs to be replaced. If your right rear axle shaft needs to be replaced, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge parts and labor. Parts are anticipated to be available mid-january 2026.
