Description
The stoplamp switch that controls your vehicles brake lights may have been installed incorrectly, which could lead to potential damage to the switch. A damaged stoplamp switch may cause exterior brake lamps not to illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed, or to illuminate without the brake pedal being pressed. Additionally, features such as cruise control and trailer-tow may not operate correctly. A damaged switch could also make it possible to shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal.
Safety Risk
Brake lamps that do not function correctly increase the risk of a crash. Your vehicle also may shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal, which can cause the vehicle to roll unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy
Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the stoplamp switch free of charge.
