On your vehicle, the supplemental owners guide does not include an accurate description of all head restraints and instructions for adjusting or removing certain center head restraints

Safety Risk

Customers do not have access to an accurate description of all head restraints and instructions for adjusting or removing certain center head restraints. Inability to access this information increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has provided an addendum, with the owner notification letter, that includes an accurate description of all head restraints and describes how to adjust and remove the head restraints for certain center seating positions. Please place the head restraint owners manual addendum provided with this letter in your vehicles glovebox with the supplemental owners guide. You do not need to visit your dealer, but you have the option to take your vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for assistance with properly installing the mailed owners manual addendum into your vehicles glovebox, free of charge parts and labor.

On your vehicle, the brake master cylinder may allow brake fluid to leak into the brake booster. If the brake fluid reservoir is depleted below a predetermined level, you will be alerted that brake system service is required by a combination of the following - an audible chime - a full screen message center alert - illumination of the red brake warning indicator shown to the left. If the brake fluid reservoir is depleted through continued vehicle operation, you may experience a change in brake pedal travel and feel, and increased pedal effort. If a loss of brake fluid is substantial, it can reduce brake function in the front wheels. Brake function in the rear wheels is unaffected by this condition.

Reduced brake function in the front wheels can extend stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the brake master cylinder on your vehicle free of charge.

Description

On your vehicle, it may be possible the transmission park pawl guide cup roll pin was not installed.

Safety Risk

If the roll pin is missing, the guide cup could move out of position with repeated use. The transmission may eventually lose park function, even when the shifter and prndl display indicate the vehicle is in park. This condition could allow the ignition key, if equipped, to be removed with no instrument panel warning message or warning chime while exiting the vehicle indicating the vehicle is not secured in park. This could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect and install the roll pin free of charge (parts and labor).

A clip that secures the transmission cable to the transmission may not be seated properly.

Safety Risk

The driver may experience the following if this condition occurs. 1)UNINTENDED vehicle movement or roll away, if the parking brake is not applied, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. 2)WHEN exiting the vehicle, the ignition key (if equipped) can be removed with no instrument panel warning message or chime indicating that the transmission is not in park. 3)THE transmission gear as displayed in the instrument cluster may be different than indicated by the position of the transmission shift lever. 4)NO ability to restart the vehicle, unless the transmission gear as displayed in the instrument cluster is park or neutral. These conditions increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect your transmission selector lever cable, and repair as necessary, free of charge (parts and labor).

Description

On some of the affected vehicles, the driver and or front passenger seatbelt retractor pretensioners may deploy inadvertently while the vehicles engine is on.

Safety Risk

Inadvertent deployment of the retractor pretensioner will result in the seatbelt being locked in position and will not retract or extend, which is noticeable to the occupant. A seatbelt that does not retract or extend may result in injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect and, if necessary, replace the front seat belt retractors free of charge parts and labor.

The secondary digital torque sensor in your vehicles steering gear was calibrated with an inverted polarity. If the primary steering torque sensor experiences a failure or fault, the inverted polarity on the secondary sensor may cause the steering wheel to begin oscillating without warning alternating clockwisecounterclockwise when attempting to steer, due to the electric power assisted steering epas providing unintended steering assist.

Safety Risk

Unintended steering assist can lead to loss of vehicle control while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Software is now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to reprogram the power steering control module pscm free of charge.

Description

On some of the affected vehicles, the driver and or front passenger seatbelt retractor pretensioners may deploy inadvertently while the vehicles engine is on. If you already had 24S06 performed on your vehicle, Ford Lincoln is looking to inspect your vehicle again for more pretensioner date codes that have been determined to be defective.

Safety Risk

Description

Comfort lock inspection and marriage bolt torque. Certain 2018 my expedition vehicles may have a 2ND row outboard seat with forward adjustment capability exceeding design intent and/or may have an improperly installed bolt that attaches the seatback to the seat base. A 2ND row outboard seat assembly with either condition may fail to comply with the requirements of fmvss 202A S4.2 head restraints, 207 S4.2 seating systems and/or fmvss 210 S4.2 and 4.3 seat belt anchorage. Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.

Safety Risk

An inadequately retained seatback and/or improperly positioned occupant may increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to verify proper operation of the 2ND row outboard latches, and if necessary, replace the seat frame assembly. They will also verify proper bolt installation and if necessary, remove and reinstall the bolt properly, free of charge parts and labor.

On your vehicle, the power-operated second row window may not automatically reverse if an obstruction is encountered while the window is closing.

Safety Risk

If the window does not automatically reverse as required, it may increase the risk of injury.

Remedy
