How do I make a principal-only payment?

You can schedule a principal-only payment in the Ford Credit Mobile App or Account Manager if your retail account is current or paid ahead.

There are two ways to make a principal only payment. 

How to Make a Principal-Only Payment

Select your preferred method from the options below.

Ford Credit Mobile App

  1. Download the Ford Credit Mobile App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Once the app is downloaded, click Sign In to enter your username and password.
  3. If you have a Ford account, use those credentials.
  4. If you do not have an account, click Create Account next to “Don’t have an account?” on the login page.
  5. After you sign in, select Make a payment.
  6. Select Change Payment Amount.
  7. Select Principal only radio button and select Submit.
  8. Enter the amount you want to pay.
  9. Choose the bank account you want to pay from, or if you want to use a different one, select Add New Bank Account, enter the required information, and select Add. Choose payment date.
  10. Select Agree and Pay.
  11. Select Back to home on the payment confirmation page to return to the mobile app home page.

Account Manager Online

  1. Go to accountmanager.ford.com.
  2. Click Sign In to enter your username and password.
  3. If you have a Ford account, use those credentials.
  4. If you do not have an account, click Create Account next to Sign In button on the Ford Credit login page.
  5. After you sign in, click Make a Payment.
  6. Select Change across from Total Amount Due.
  7. Select Principal Only radio button
  8. Choose the bank account you want to pay from.
    • If you do not have a bank account set up, or you want to use a different one, select Add New Bank Account.
    • Enter the required information, and select Add.
  9. Choose payment date. Select Agree and Pay.
  10. Select Done on the payment successfully scheduled page to return to the Account Manager Dashboard.

Additional Information

Important: A principal-only payment does not satisfy your regular monthly payment obligation, or count as an advance payment for future months.

Note: To confirm your payment was applied to principal only, log in to Account Manager the day after the scheduled payment date, and select Transaction History.
