How does the Front and Rear Parking Aid feature of my Ford work?
The Front and Rear Parking Aid* feature in your Ford vehicle uses sensors to help you detect objects when parking.
Front Parking Aid
The front parking aid sensors are located on your vehicle's front bumper. These sensors become active when the transmission is in any position other than Park (P) and the vehicle's speed is below 5 mph. They will deactivate once the vehicle reaches 5 mph. The front sensors can detect objects up to 28 inches from the center of the bumper. If an object is 12 inches or less from the front bumper, the system will provide a continuous warning tone.
Rear Parking Aid
In contrast, the rear parking aid sensors extend their coverage much further than the front sensors, detecting objects up to 70 inches from the rear bumper. These sensors automatically activate when the transmission is shifted into Reverse (R) and the vehicle is moving at speeds less than 3 mph. Similar to the front system, when an object is 12 inches or less from the rear bumper, the rear parking aid will provide a continuous warning tone.
