What is the Electric Vehicle (EV) Routing feature in Apple Maps?

1. Apple CarPlay with SYNC Initial Set-Up and enable Apple CarPlay on your SYNC^®* screen.

2. Set a destination. 

   

3. Press OK on the pop-up message.
   
   Note: If this feature is unavailable for your vehicle, the pop-up screen will not display.

   

4. Select Connect to add your EV to Apple Maps on your Apple device.

   

5. Review and confirm your data-sharing preferences with Apple. 

   

EV Routing in Apple Maps is now enabled. When you create new routes in Apple Maps via CarPlay, it will display:

• The estimated arrival time and battery charge of your vehicle once you arrive at your next stop or destination.
• The suggested chargers, charge level targets, and the estimated charging time.

Note: For trips requiring charging stops, charge levels and arrival times will include the time spent at charge stops and the charge gained while public charging.

Charge stops cannot be replaced in Apple CarPlay on your in-vehicle touchscreen. Charge stops can only be replaced in the Apple Maps app on your smart device.

To replace a suggested charge stop:

1. Select your destination. A preview of the route displays with suggested charge stops.
2. Tap the name of the charge stop.
3. Select an alternative charger by:
   • Typing in your desired charger.
   • Choosing from the list of chargers along your route.

Ford worked with Apple to develop communications between your all-electric Ford vehicle and Apple device. However, the battery level will only update when your Apple device connects through Apple CarPlay.

Preconditioning with Apple Maps EV Routing is available on 2026 model year Mustang Mach-E vehicles only. 

When you navigate with Apple Maps EV Routing, Apple Maps will automatically add fast chargers to your route and precondition your vehicle's battery as you approach the fast charger.

Yes, Apple Maps EV Routing can automatically route your vehicle to compatible Tesla Superchargers and other North American Charging Standard (NACS) DC Fast Chargers.

Apple Maps will display an alert in CarPlay and on your iPhone whenever you choose a route with a Tesla Supercharger or NACS DC Fast Charger. 

Preventing Additional Adapter Required Pop-up Notifications in Apple Maps

Apple Maps may present an additional warning message when you start a route that requires an adapter. You can prevent this additional pop-up notification by adding your preferred NACS DC Fast Charger to your vehicle's charger networks list.

1. Open Apple Maps on your iPhone.
2. Tap your account profile photo.

3. Select your vehicle and tap Add Network.

   

4. Choose your desired networks and tap Done.

   

Note: If you do not have your Fast Charging Adapter, choose another route from the available list, or manually replace the charger in your route.

The battery level will only ever update when your Apple device connects to your vehicle through Apple CarPlay.
