A Look in the Rearview Mirror

Serial No. 1
There’s a lot to see in the Driving America exhibit at The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, MI. But one particular mint-condition white convertible stands out — the very first serialized Mustang, immortalized with the top down and a 260 cu. in. V8 engine under the hood. This holy grail of classic cars is the same smooth, poised and high-powered ride it was when it rolled off the production line at the Ford River Rouge Complex in March of 1964. At the time, you would have been able to drive away in this 164-horsepower GT convertible for $3,334. (And someone did drive away in it! Check out the full story on the museum's website.)
