How do I set Valet Mode with SYNC®*?

You can find the steps needed to set Valet Mode with SYNC below.

Valet mode is used to prevent others, who have access to your vehicle, from accessing your SYNC system. Enabling Valet Mode locks your SYNC system until a PIN you have chosen is entered.

Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation

There are two resources to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation:

  • SYNC and Navigation Updates page, which allows you to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Login with your Ford credentials, and select Check for update. Your current SYNC generation will appear on the right-hand side of the page.
  • SYNC Visual Reference Guide, which has example images of each generation of SYNC Ford has offered.

Setting Valet Mode

  1.  Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.

  2. Tap Valet Mode.

  3. Touch Yes when prompted by the pop-up.

  4. Create a four-digit PIN.

SYNC 4A

  1. Click on the Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Tap CONTROLS.
  3. Press Valet Mode.
  4. Create a four-digit PIN.
  5. Click Done.

SYNC 3

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Press Valet Mode. A message will ask you to enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
  3. Select Yes to continue.
  4. Enter a four-digit PIN of your choice.
  5. Press Done.
  6. Re-enter the PIN to complete the process.

The system is now locked until the correct PIN is entered.

SYNC® with MyFord Touch®

  1. Press Menu (gear icon) on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Press Vehicle.
  3. Press Enable Valet Mode. A message will ask you to enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
  4. Select Yes to continue.
  5. Enter a four-digit PIN of your choice.
  6. Press Enter.
  7. Re-enter the PIN to complete the process. 

The system is now locked until the correct PIN is entered.

SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation

  1. Press the MENU hard button.
  2. Select the Valet Mode tab on the touchscreen.
  3. Press Enable Valet Mode.
  4. Enter a four-digit PIN of your choice.
  5. Press Enter. The system will ask you to re-enter the PIN.
  6. Re-enter your PIN.
  7. Select Enable to activate Valet Mode.

The system is now locked until the correct PIN is entered.
