What is the Ford Rear Occupant Alert System?
The Rear Occupant Alert System, available on select models, is a safety feature that alerts the driver to check the back seat of the vehicle for occupants after the ignition is turned off.
How It Works
Once the system is enabled, it is triggered when the driver performs certain steps within 15 minutes before starting the vehicle:
4-Door Vehicles
- Open the rear door of the vehicle.
- Buckle the rear seat belt.
- Close the rear door.
- Turn the vehicle ignition on.
Note: If the vehicle's Child Seat Installed option is enabled, the rear seat belt buckling step is not needed, as the system is triggered once the door is opened, then closed, and the vehicle ignition is turned on. 2-Door Vehicles
- Open the driver's side door.
- Buckle the rear seat belt.
- Close the driver's side door.
- Turn the vehicle ignition on.
Note: If the vehicle's Child Seat Installed option is enabled, the rear seat belt buckling step is not needed, as the system is triggered once the door is opened, then closed, and the vehicle ignition is turned on.
