What is Pre-Collision Assist* with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) on my Ford?

The Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking feature is a driver-assist system designed to help detect and potentially avoid frontal collision with other vehicles and pedestrians.

How it works

  1. If a potential collision is detected, an alert sound is emitted and a warning message displays in the message center.
  2. If your response is not sufficient, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) will precharge and increase Brake Assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you do brake.
  3. If you don’t take corrective action and a collision is imminent, brakes can apply automatically.

To find out if a vehicle has Pre-Collision Assist with AEB available, download an order guide:

  1. Visit the Ford media website.
  2. Select the Vehicles tab and choose a vehicle.
  3. Select Order Guide.

Tip: To search the order guide, press CTRL + F to open a search box in your browser. You can then enter any term, such as Automatic Emergency Braking, to search the guide.

What is Post-Collision Braking?

*Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking can detect pedestrians, but not in all conditions and does not replace safe driving. Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment, and need to control the vehicle. See Owner's Manual for system limitations.
