What do I do if my Ford home charge station has Wi-Fi connectivity issues?

If you are having issues with your home charger's connectivity or are setting up your charger for the first time, review the guidance below.

Note:

  • Your charge station does not need to be connected to a network to charge your electric vehicle (EV).
  • Ford charge stations can charge vehicles in their default state after installation.

Home Charge Station Wi-Fi Troubleshooting

Follow the guidance below to troubleshoot Wi-Fi network connectivity on your Ford home charge station.

Checking Connectivity and Network Availability

Confirm your home Wi-Fi network can reach your charger.

  • This can be confirmed using another device, such as a phone, tablet, or laptop.
  • If possible, use a 2.4 GHz network. 2.4 GHz networks have higher signal strength over greater distances.
  • Adding a Wi-Fi extender may improve a weak or intermittent signal.

For additional network troubleshooting, you may need to contact your internet service provider.

Wi-Fi Setup Troubleshooting

If you are attempting to set up your charger and cannot connect to Wi-Fi, restart the setup process by following the steps below.

  1. Shut the charger off at the breaker and wait 10 minutes to turn it back on.
  2. Force close all apps on your phone.
  3. Reset your home Wi-Fi.
  4. Turn the breaker back on.
  5. Attempt to set up your home charger again.

If the above troubleshooting does not resolve your issue, contact Ford for additional support.
