2.3L EcoBoost® I-4 Engine

This turbocharged powerplant churns out 300 hp* and 310 lb.-ft. of torque* for spirited drives around town or far from it. The 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine comes standard on the Base, XLT, ST-Line, Timberline® and Limited models.

3.0L EcoBoost® V6 Engine

The 3.0L EcoBoost® V6 engine with Auto Start-Stop Technology is the backbone of the ST, King Ranch® and Platinum model powertrains. It combines turbocharging and direct injection to produce 400 hp* and 415 lb.-ft of torque. *

3.3L V6 Hybrid Engine

The 3.3L V6 Hybrid engine on the 2023 Explorer® Limited Hybrid and Platinum Hybrid models helps conserve gas while producing 318 hp* and 322 lb.-ft of torque. * Plus, it can tow up to 5,000 pounds. **

Terrain Management System

The standard Terrain Management System, on 2WD and Intelligent 4WD Explorer® models, can help tackle any adventure. Up to seven Selectable Drive Modes include Normal, Trail, Deep Snow/Sand (4WD only), Slippery, Sport, Tow/Haul and Eco Mode.
