Road-Trip Ready Seats

Available multicontour seats with Active Motion® provide added comfort to the driver and front passenger. The Active Motion seats offer five upper or lower back massage themes. This helps prevent fatigue so you can stay fresh on long drives and recover after the day’s fun is done.

Comfortably Seats up to Seven

Available PowerFold® third-row seats make it easy to accommodate passengers and cargo. With the seats up, the Ford Explorer® SUV can carry seven people. They also quickly fold down for more cargo room.

    Customize Your Drive Modes

    The different drive modes are Normal, Eco, Sport, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Trail and additionally on models equipped with Intelligent 4WD, Deep Snow/Sand. Once selected, these modes can automatically modify the electronic stability control system and traction control system for optimized performance.

    Normal Mode

    For everyday driving. This mode is a perfect balance of excitement, comfort and convenience.

    Tow/Haul Mode

    This mode changes shift points under acceleration to keep the vehicle further up in the power range while driving over rolling terrain for an optimized towing experience.

    Slippery Mode

    This mode lowers throttle response and optimizes shifting and can be used for crossing terrain where a firm surface is covered with loose, wet or slippery material.

    Trail Mode

    This mode lets you set a desired speed for off-road driving, and controls acceleration and braking on challenging road conditions. *

    Deep Snow/Sand Mode

    This mode is for off-road driving on soft, dry sand or deep snow. It’s only available on Explorer® models equipped with Intelligent 4WD. *

    Multi-Color Ambient Lighting

    Set the mood with seven colors of available ambient lighting for the first and second rows. This lighting system adds to the immersive experience that comes with the available B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen® with 12 speakers, include a subwoofer.

    Twin-Panel Moonroof

    The available twin-panel moonroof does more than just let light in. It offers an impressive view of the sky and lets you feel the warmth of the sun.

    Available Cargo Management System

    Extra pockets on the side and a storage area underneath the floor provide a place for smaller items. You can also flip the reversible load floor over for plastic bedding, saving the carpet from wet or muddy cargo. *

    PowerFold® Third-Row Seat

    When you need it, the available PowerFold® third-row seat gives you the ability to fit up to seven passengers. When you don’t, fold it down with the push of a button for extra cargo space.
    Front seat belts removed in order to provide a clear view of the vehicle interior.
