How do I adjust the SYNC Navigation volume?
You can change the SYNC®* Navigation directional prompts by adjusting the volume while a navigation prompt is playing.
Changing Route Guidance Prompt Volume
Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to change your SYNC Navigation prompt volume. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.
Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation

SYNC 4A | SYNC 4
You can change the volume while a guidance prompt is playing with SYNC 4A and SYNC 4 by either:
- Using the volume controls on your steering wheel (Vol+ or Vol-).
- Turning the audio volume control knob located on the center console.
SYNC 3
To adjust the navigation prompt volume with SYNC 3:
Step 1: Enable the navigation voice prompts.
- Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select Navigation.
- Choose Navigation Preferences.
- Ensure Guidance Prompts are set to Voice and Tones.
Step 2: Adjust the navigation voice volume.
- Wait for the navigation voice to begin speaking.
- Before the voice finishes giving directions, adjust the volume using one of the following options:
- Using the volume controls on your steering wheel (Vol+ or Vol-)
- Turning the audio volume control knob located on the center console
Note: The SYNC voice that you interact with when controlling climate, phone, entertainment, and media devices can be adjusted separately from the Navigation system voice that guides turn-by-turn directions.
SYNC with MyFord Touch®
To adjust the navigation prompt volume using SYNC with MyFord Touch:
Step 1: Enable the navigation voice prompts.
- Press the Gear icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select Settings.
- Tap Navigation.
- Choose Navigation Preferences.
- Ensure Guidance Prompts are set to Voice and Tones.
Step 2: Adjust the navigation voice volume.
- Start a route on your navigation system.
- Press the Repeat Last Step icon (circle arrow next to Menu).
- While the system is providing route guidance, turn the volume knob to your preferred level.
SYNC with Next-Generation Navigation
To adjust the navigation prompt volume using SYNC with Next-Generation Navigation:
Step 1: Enable the navigation prompts.
- Press the Nav hard button.
- Select the Navigation Prefs tab on the left side.
- Set the Guidance Prompts settings to Voice.
Step 2: Adjust the navigation voice volume.
- Press the Menu hard button.
- Select the Feedback Settings tab on the left side.
- Adjust the Voice Volume setting to your preferred level.
SYNC with Nav "P"
To adjust the navigation prompt volume using SYNC with Nav "P":
- Press the Menu hard button.
- Select Feedback on the top row of the Display screen.

Set the Navigation Guidance option to On, then adjust the Voice Volume selection as needed.
Note: Selecting Test will play a sound at the current volume level.
