Learn the controls for SYNC 3

In vehicles equipped with SYNC® 3, features can be controlled by the touchscreen and the buttons on the steering wheel and instrument panel. It’s important to know the location of these controls and how to interact with them.27

Please note, controls vary based on whether your vehicle is equipped with the corresponding features and your vehicle’s configuration. The control buttons in your vehicle may differ. Please see your Owner Manuals for exact labels, location and usage.

Voice

The Voice button activates Voice Recognition, which allows you to speak a command or interrupt the SYNC voice.

Phone

The Phone button answers or ends calls. This button may toggle between the functions. If your vehicle has two Phone buttons, one answers calls, the other ends calls.

Audio Mute

The Audio Mute button mutes all forms of audio and media. (This button does not mute the SYNC or Navigation voice.)

Volume

The Volume control increases and decreases sound from media and the SYNC voice.

Note: To raise or lower the volume of the SYNC or the Navigation voice, adjust the volume control up or down WHILE the SYNC or Navigation voice is speaking.

Seek

The Seek button moves through menu choices.

OK

The OK button confirms your selections.

Audio

Press the Audio icon to select a source for music and audio. Learn more about Audio and Entertainment.

Climate

Press the climate icon to reveal all the different ways to adjust temperature, air flow, defrost and fan speed. Learn more about how to adjust Climate comfort.

Phone

After pairing your phone, press the phone icon to access things like contacts, recent call lists and text messages. Learn more about your Phone and how to make hands-free calls.

Navigation

Press the Navigation icon to set your destination and select your route. Learn more about Navigation.

Apps

Press the Apps icon to access compatible mobile apps and use on-screen, steering wheel buttons and voice commands to control them. Learn more about using your Apps.

Settings

Press the Settings icon to personalize your in-vehicle settings. Learn more about Settings.

Power

The Volume and System Power may be one or two separate buttons that turn the audio system on and off, as well as increase and decrease sound of audio source and SYNC voice.

Note: To raise or lower the volume of the SYNC or Navigation voice, adjust the volume control up or down WHILE the SYNC or Navigation voice is speaking.

Seek

The Seek buttons reverse and fast forward to radio stations or CD tracks.

Media

The Source or Media button allows you to choose the mode you want to listen to, like AM radio, a CD, or Bluetooth® audio.

Tune

Once you’ve selected AM, FM, HD or Sirius, use the Tune button to choose stations.

USB

USB port(s) provide input for USB supported media playing devices and USB drives containing SYNC software updates, or your own entertainment selections. These ports also charge USB supported devices.

The USB ports may be found in the center console or at the bottom of the Audio Controls panel.

Left Display

The left vehicle information display or center instrument panel display provides important vehicle information by constantly monitoring vehicle systems. The system notifies you of potential vehicle problems by displaying system warnings followed by a long indicator tone. Exact features may vary based on your vehicle’s configuration.

Right Display

The right vehicle information display or center instrument panel display gives you access to the most-used functions of the touchscreen, such as entertainment, climate, phone and navigation3.

USB Ports

USB port(s) provide input for USB supported media playing devices and USB drives containing SYNC software updates, or your own entertainment selections. These ports also charge USB supported devices.

The USB ports may be found in the center console or at the bottom of the Audio Controls panel.
