Description
On your vehicle, prior to final upfit installation and during outdoor storage, it may be possible for water to accumulate in the high voltage battery hvb side rail channels. The high voltage traction battery tray side rails may buckle and crack when the pooled water is exposed to repeated cycles of freezing and thawing. If the battery tray side rails buckle and crack, this can expose the battery to water.
Safety Risk
If there is a significant amount of water inside a high voltage battery for a prolonged period of time, this can result in an electrical short circuit, and this may lead to a fire.
Remedy
Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect the hvb side rail channels for damage and modify the channels to prevent water accumulation free of charge. If the channels are damaged, the dealer will replace the hvb free of charge parts and labor.
