2025 Ford Bronco Sport® SUVs and Maverick® Pickups — Front Suspension Components Recall

Recall Reference Number: 26S36
Making vehicles you can count on is our most important job. That’s why we take extensive steps to ensure product quality and why we’re committed to fixing issues that come up after rollout.
A Do Not Drive safety recall has been issued for certain 2025 Bronco Sport® SUVs and Maverick® pickups:
The lower ball joint of the front suspension may not have been pushed all the way into its socket during assembly at the factory. If the ball joint is not secured correctly, the front wheel could come loose, or the suspension could separate while driving. This would make the vehicle very difficult to steer and increases the risk of a crash.
What You Need to Do

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the issue?
On certain 2025 model-year Bronco Sport® and Maverick® vehicles, a part of the front suspension — the lower ball joint — may not have been pushed all the way into its socket during assembly at the factory.
What is the safety risk?
Do not drive. If the ball joint is not secured correctly, the front wheel could come loose, or the suspension could separate while driving. This would make the vehicle very difficult to steer and increases the risk of a crash.
Are you aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition?
We are not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
How many vehicles are affected?
There are approximately 6,350 vehicles affected globally.
How was this issue identified?
Ford identified this issue through three warranty claims where customers reported wheels becoming misaligned or suspension parts separating shortly after the purchase of the vehicle.
What is the fix, and will there be a charge?
Dealers will inspect the front suspension to ensure the ball joint parts are seated correctly. If an incorrectly seated joint is found, the dealer will replace the affected suspension parts. This repair will be completed at no charge to the customer.
What should customers do?
Do not drive your vehicle until this repair has been completed. Please call your dealer without delay and request a service date for recall 26S36. Provide the dealer with your VIN, which is printed near your name at the beginning of this letter.
What process improvements has Ford made to prevent this from happening in the future?
The issue affects vehicles assembled prior to June 1, 2025. On that date, the assembly plant implemented a fixture to physically guarantee full part insertion.
Is the repair available right now, or do I have to wait for parts?
The repair is not available right now. The inspection is available today. If your vehicle passes the inspection, this will close the Field Service Action (FSA) and your vehicle can be driven. If your vehicle fails the inspection, you will need to wait for parts to be available to complete the repair and close this FSA. Please work with your dealership to determine your next steps.
Will Ford provide a rental car while my vehicle is being repaired?
Because your vehicle is under an active Do Not Drive safety recall, your safety is our absolute priority. To keep you mobile, your dealer is authorized to provide a complimentary rental vehicle for your personal transportation until this inspection is completed and/or your vehicle is repaired. This rental is provided at no charge, with the exception of fuel and insurance. Please contact your dealer to discuss rental availability, program guidelines, limitations, and to arrange your vehicle’s service.
How long will the repair take?
The actual inspection and repair will take less than half a day. However, due to service scheduling requirements, your dealer may need to keep your vehicle for a longer period of time.
What is the Ford reference number for this recall?
