Frequently Asked Questions

Why are there so many recalls?

The increase in recalls reflects our intensive strategy to quickly find and fix any hardware and software issues and go the extra mile to protect customers. It’s all part of our commitment to significantly improving product quality and the customer service experience. We’re being recognized for it. Ford was named #1 in Customer Satisfaction for Dealership Service among Truck Owners in the JD Power 2026 U.S. Customer Service Index (CSI) Study, including being rated #1 for Service Quality by truck owners.**

What’s the recall issue?

A weld quality variation in the transmission lead frame wiring can cause an intermittent sensor signal. If this happens while driving, the transmission may suddenly downshift to a lower gear without warning.

What’s the fix?

All affected vehicles will receive a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software update that prevents the unintended downshift. If a vehicle exhibits a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) or wrench light with specific codes, dealers will replace the molded lead frame wiring.

When will the repair be available?

A complete dealer bulletin with technical instructions and the software remedy was launched on July 9, 2026.

Can I still drive my truck?

Yes, you can drive your vehicle. The recall does not include a Stop-Drive or Park-Outside instruction. If the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) or the wrench light comes on your dashboard, take your vehicle to a dealer immediately.

Is Ford Mobile Service available?

No, unfortunately, Ford Mobile Service is unavailable for this repair. Due to the requirement for PCM reprogramming and potential lead frame wiring replacement, this service must be performed at the dealership.

Is Ford Pickup & Delivery available?

Yes. When a remedy is available, you can reach out to your dealer to schedule complimentary pickup and delivery.††

Will there be a charge for this repair?

No.
