How do I change the SYNC®* system language?
To get started, confirm which SYNC generation you have using the resources below, and then select the appropriate drop-down option.
Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation
There are two resources to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation:
- SYNC and Navigation Updates page, which allows you to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Login with your Ford credentials, and select Check for update. Your current SYNC generation will appear on the right-hand side of the page.
- SYNC Visual Reference Guide, which has example images of each generation of SYNC Ford has offered.
Changing the SYNC System Language
SYNC 4A
- Click on the Vehicle image on your SYNC screen.
- Select General.
- Use the arrow to choose your language (English, Français, or Español).

- Press AUX repeatedly until SYNC appears.
- Press MENU. MEDIA MENU will momentarily appear in the radio display.
- Scroll repeatedly until SYSTEM SETTINGS appears in the radio display.
- Press OK to confirm and enter the SYSTEM SETTINGS menu.
- Scroll until ADVANCED appears in the radio display.
- Press OK to confirm and enter the ADVANCED menu.
- Scroll repeatedly until LANGUAGE appears in the radio display.
- Press OK to enter the LANGUAGE menu.
- Scroll to choose your language (English, Français, or Español).
