Summary: Describes the process FordPass Guides will follow to assist a Member who requests to opt out of Road Segment Data collection.
Requirements
- Member must have an active FordPass account.
- Member has an activated modem and Share Vehicle Location is turned on.
- When they authorize the modem and Share Vehicle Location is turned on, RSD collection will automatically be enabled.
- If a master reset is performed and the vehicle is reauthorized, RSD collection will automatically be enabled again.
- FordPass Guide must have access to the Connected Vehicle Business Operations Portal (CVBOP) to complete the Member's opt out request.
Road Segment Opt Out Process Flow
- Member contacts FordPass and inquires about the RSD that is collected from their vehicle and/or requests assistance in opting-out.
NOTE: If the Member does not specifically mention the type of data they are inquiring about, probe the Member and clarify if they are inquiring about RSD.
- Explain to the Member that the information collected will be used for product and service delivery, product improvement, research and development.
- Inform the Member that data collection can be stopped if their Location Based Services are turned off.
- If the Member chooses to turn off Location Based Services, click here and follow the process for Disabling Location Based Services.
- Obtain confirmation from the Member that they would like to proceed in opting out of RSD collection.
- If the Member agrees to continue, proceed to step 5.
- If the Member declines to continue, no further action is needed.
- Confirm vehicle eligibility using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) through CVBOP.
NOTE: Troubleshoot UBI, Troubleshoot PAAK, Remove from Block, and Stop Data Collection buttons are only visible bases on CRC role access.
- Enter the VIN and click Fetch.
NOTE: The Fetch button will only be clickable if the value entered matches the correct VIN format.
- If the VIN is found, the VSS Vehicle Info Details screen will be populated with vehicle data and the buttons will be active.
- If the VIN is NOT found, none of the buttons will become active and an error dialog will appear informing you of the error.
- If the VIN is found, the VSS Vehicle Info Details screen will be populated with vehicle data and the buttons will be active.
- If the VIN is successfully found, click View Full Details.
Use the following parameters to confirm eligibility: Year, Model, Country, Connectivity CCS is enabled- If the VIN is enrolled:
NOTE: You can filter down the search by entering in keywords or clicking the directional arrows to change the sort order.
- If the VIN is enrolled:
- If the VIN is not eligible based on the points mentioned above, explain to the Member that their VIN is not capable for RSD collection, and there is no further action needed.
- If the VIN is eligible, inform the Member of the pre-conditions of turning off their RSD sharing.
- Vehicle must be parked.
- Vehicle must have the ignition turned on.
- Cellular signal is available.
NOTE: If the vehicle is turned off, it should still be within the 30-minute window.
- If the VIN is eligible, inform the Member of the pre-conditions of turning off their RSD sharing.
- Once you confirm that the pre-conditions for the vehicle are met, click the Stop Data Collection button.
- The below dialogue box will open with six sections:
- Vehicle Authorization
- There are three states for this section:
- Authorized - call to CVAS returns authorized
- NOT Authorized - call to CVAS returns unauthorized
NOTE: If the vehicle is NOT authorized, the Stop Data Collection button will not be enabled.
- Unknown - when there is an error in the call to CVAS
- Authorized - call to CVAS returns authorized
- There are three states for this section:
- Recent Connectivity
- There are three states in the Recent Connectivity Information section:
- Connected - signified by a green check mark and a message that says Recently Connected.
- Not Connected - signified by a red X and a message that says NOT Recently Connected, as well as text specifying the last connectivity date
NOTE: If a vehicle has not connected recently, the result of the Stop Data Collection command will not be immediately available. This is because the vehicle needs to perform a key cycle and connect for the command to finish processing.
- Unknown - signified by a yellow question circle and a message explaining the error.
NOTE: If a vehicle has not connected recently, the command will most likely not work. However, the Stop Data Collection button will still become active, but could result in a failure.
- Connected - signified by a green check mark and a message that says Recently Connected.
- There are three states in the Recent Connectivity Information section:
- Vehicle Capability
- There are three states in the Vehicle Capability Information section:
- Capable - signified by a green check mark and a message that says Vehicle is Capable.
- Not Capable - signified by a red X and a message that says Vehicle NOT Capable.
NOTE: If the vehicle is not capable, the Stop Data Collection button is disabled.
- Unknown - signified by a yellow question circle and a message that says Vehicle Capability Unknown. You can hover over the message to get more information about why it is unknown.
NOTE: If the vehicle's capability is not known, the Stop Data Collection button will be active. Since the capability is unknown, the command may fail, but there is still the opportunity of success.
- Capable - signified by a green check mark and a message that says Vehicle is Capable.
- There are three states in the Vehicle Capability Information section:
- CCS Location
- There are three states in the CCS Location section:
- Location Enabled - when the vehicle has CCS Location enabled.
- Location Disabled - when the vehicle does not have CCS Location enabled.
- Location Unknown - when there is an error in the call to CVAS.
- Location Enabled - when the vehicle has CCS Location enabled.
- There are three states in the CCS Location section:
- CCS Connectivity
- There are three states in the CCS Connectivity section:
- Connectivity Enabled - when the vehicle has CCS Connectivity enabled.
- Connectivity Disabled - when the vehicle does not have CCS Connectivity enabled.
NOTE: If CCS Connectivity is disabled, the Stop Data Collection button will be disabled.
- Connectivity Unknown - when there is an error in the call to CVAS. You can hover over the message to get more information about why it is unknown.
- Connectivity Enabled - when the vehicle has CCS Connectivity enabled.
- There are three states in the CCS Connectivity section:
- CVBOP History
- The CVBOP History section contains the complete history of commands startData and stopData contained in the CVBOP database. There are six columns:
- VIN - the vehicle's VIN
- ACTION - the command type (i.e. stopData/startData)
- PORTAL
- crc_rem/crc_cbz - these are commands sent from CRC
- Rem/cbz - these are commands sent from CVBOP CBZ portlet
- STATUS - the status of the command (success/failed/pending)
- USER - the user who sent that command
- The CVBOP History section contains the complete history of commands startData and stopData contained in the CVBOP database. There are six columns:
- Vehicle Authorization
- Once all the compatibility information is done loading and the Stop Data Collection button is active, click the button which will send the stopData command. This will trigger a new dialog to manage the command.
NOTE: The dialog is initially a spinner that indicates the command is still processing and can take some time.
- Once the command has been sent, the dialog has three states for each feature:
- Pending - the initial state, signified by a yellow question circle. This occurs after the command has been sent; click Refresh to see if the command was a success or a failure
- Success - signified by a green check mark. This means that the command is a success and data collection has been stopped on the vehicle.
- Failed - signified by a red X mark. This means that the command has failed and that data collection has not been stopped on the vehicle. An error message denoting the reason for failure will be present under the red X mark.
NOTE: Clicking Retry will only resend the commands for the feature that failed to be stopped.
- Pending - the initial state, signified by a yellow question circle. This occurs after the command has been sent; click Refresh to see if the command was a success or a failure
- Once the command has been sent, the dialog has three states for each feature:
- Verbally confirm to the Member that the action is successful through the command status.
- Provide a disclaimer to the Member that if a Master Reset is performed on the vehicle and the vehicle is connected to a FordPass account, the vehicle will start sharing RSD again. If the Member wishes to stop sharing, they will need to contact FordPass again.
