What is Phone As A Key in the Ford app?
The Phone As A Key™* feature allows you to turn your phone into a key fob with the Ford app and set up a maximum of four keys per vehicle. Use the details below for more information.
Important: It is recommended to always have your key fob present when using Phone As A Key.
Phone As A Key Controls
In addition to your Remote Commands, you can also control the following:
- Windows Up/Down
- Open/Close Frunk**
- Open/Close Trunk†
Phone As A Key Requirements
To use Phone As A Key, you must meet the requirements below.
- The Ford app is downloaded to your device, you have an active account, and you are logged in.
- Your vehicle is added to the Ford app and Phone As A Key is available for your vehicle.
- Facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, or a passcode is set up on your mobile device.
- Your Vehicle Connectivity settings are enabled.
- Your vehicle modem is activated.
- Your phone's Bluetooth® is enabled and running version 4.2 or above.
- Your phone software version is:
- iOS® version 16.0 or above.
- Android™ version 8.0 or above.
- Your phone must be within Bluetooth Low Energy Range (i.e., between 95-165 ft).
- Your phone must be within 6 ft for passive entry.
