What is the Southern California Edison Flexible Pricing Rate Pilot?

Ford electric vehicle (EV) drivers can get rewarded for helping Southern California Edison meet their energy goals by allowing Ford to schedule their vehicle's charging.

Ford will receive the daily forecasted energy cost and will schedule charging to occur during periods of lower cost. This forecasted schedule is known as a shadow bill. Customers whose cumulative shadow bills are lower than their regular bills will receive payment equal to the difference between the two.

What incentives are SCE offering to Ford EV owners?

Enrollment Incentive

You will receive $100 from ChargeScape on behalf of SCE upon enrollment confirmation. This incentive is paid via PayPal or Venmo, 4 to 6 weeks after you successfully enroll.

Charging Incentive

You will pay your electricity bill based on your regular monthly rate. At the same time, SCE will calculate a monthly shadow bill based on the energy consumed at the forecasted hourly pricing that Ford receives.

If your shadow bills are lower than your regular rate cumulative bills:

  • You will receive a payment equal to the difference between the two.
  • You will receive the payment as a one-time payment at the time of true-up, which is one of the following:
    • When you have been enrolled in the pilot program for 12 months.
    • When you unenroll from the pilot.
    • The same time as your Net Energy Metering (NEM) true-up.

If your shadow bills are not lower than your regular rate cumulative bills, you will not incur any additional charge or penalty.

Note: Your regular bill and shadow bill may be different, due to Ford scheduling your charging based on the forecasted hourly pricing that Ford receives.
