What is the Pacific Gas & Electric Hourly Flex Pricing Pilot?

Ford electric vehicle (EV) drivers can get rewarded for allowing Ford to schedule charging to match Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) pricing.

To help PG&E meet its energy goals, Ford will receive the daily forecasted energy cost and will schedule charging to occur during periods of lower cost. This forecasted schedule is known as a shadow bill. Customers whose cumulative shadow bills are lower than their regular bills will receive payment equal to the difference between the two.

Enroll today on the Ford Energy Rewards website, then complete your PG&E-specific application when prompted.

What incentives does PG&E offer to Ford EV owners?

Enrollment Incentive

You will receive $100 upon enrollment confirmation. This incentive is paid via PayPal or Venmo, 4 to 6 weeks after you successfully enroll.

Important: To enroll, you must complete the Ford Energy Rewards application and the PG&E application.

Charging Incentive

You will pay your electricity bill based on your regular monthly rate. Each month, PG&E will calculate a monthly shadow bill based on the energy consumed at the forecasted hourly pricing that Ford receives.

If your cumulative shadow bills are lower than your regular rate cumulative bills:

  • You will receive a payment equal to the difference between the two.
  • You will receive the payment as a one-time payment at the time of true-up, which is one of the following:
    • When you have been enrolled in the pilot program for 12 months.
    • When you unenroll from the pilot.
    • At the same time as your Net Energy Metering (NEM) true-up.

If your cumulative shadow bills are not lower than your regular rate cumulative bills, you will not incur any additional charge or penalty.

For questions regarding the program, contact the Ford Customer Relationship Center.
