Description
This action involves certain vehicles equipped with mechanical key ignition systems, vehicles with passive entry passive start - peps, or push-button systems are not affected. Specifically, mechanical key ignition system vehicles included in this action were equipped with incorrect shifter assemblies. These vehicles are not produced in vin order. Information as to the applicability of this action to specific vehicles can best be obtained by either calling ford's toll-free line 1-866-436-7332 or by contacting a local Ford or Lincoln dealer who can obtain specific information regarding the vehicles from the Ford on-line automotive service information system oasis database.
Safety Risk
If an operator removes the key with the transmission in a position other than park, it could increase the risk of a vehicle rollaway.
Remedy
Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the transmission selector lever assembly free of charge parts and labor.
