Description
According to fords records, the remedy software for safety recall 24S44 may not have been installed correctly during a prior dealership visit. Because the correct software may not have been installed on your vehicle, the underlying condition specified in safety recall 24S44 may still exist, and on your vehicle, the secondary digital torque sensor in the steering gear may be calibrated with an inverted polarity. If the primary steering torque sensor experiences a failure or fault, the steering wheel may begin unintentionally turning without warning alternating clockwise-counterclockwise when attempting to steer, due to the electric power assisted steering epas providing unintended steering assist.
Safety Risk
Unintended steering assist can lead to loss of vehicle control while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Software is available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to update the power steering control module pscm free of charge. Your dealer will also perform an additional verification process to ensure that the software has installed correctly on your vehicle.
