Description
On your vehicle, the battery energy control module becm may become damaged due to excess voltage and current flow caused by a current interrupt device cid activation in one or more high-voltage battery cells.
Safety Risk
Excess voltage and current flow through the becm may result in a loss of motive power which increases the risk of a crash, or a vehicle fire in the trunk area, which increases the risk of injury.
Remedy
Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the high voltage hv battery free of charge parts and labor. This repair will 1. Resolve the potential issue that can cause damage to the becm. 2. Limit the maximum voltage in the hv battery to prevent the risk of fire while providing you with a new hv battery with comparable capacity. Restore plug-in charging functionality if you have had the interim repair completed on your vehicle.
