Description

Reduced clearance between the seat frame and adjacent seat track assembly may cause the occupant classification system (ocs) to inaccurately register the weight of a passenger in all adjustable seat positions which may result in their mis-classification. The mis-classification of an adult passenger could result in the suppression of the passenger airbag in certain frontal crashes.

The mis-classification of an adult passenger could lead to an unintended airbag suppression, which could increase the risk of injury to a passenger in certain frontal crashes.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to ensure proper clearance between the passenger seat frame and seat track free of charge parts and labor.

Description

On your vehicle, certain attachment bolts for the seats, seatbacks, seatbelt buckles and/or seatbelt anchors may have been improperly hardened during manufacturing and could be more susceptible to fracture.

Safety Risk

If a seat, seatback, or seatbelt anchor attaching bolt fractures, the structural integrity of the seat or the seatbelt system's performance may be compromised in a sudden stop or crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the affected attachment bolts for the seats, seatbacks, seatbelt buckles andor seatbelt anchors free of charge parts and labor.

Description

A door latch with a broken pawl spring tab typically results in a "door will not close" condition. Should the customer be able to latch the door, there is a potential that the door may unlatch while driving. Ford is aware of two allegations of injury (soreness) resulting from an unlatched door bouncing back when the customer attempted to close it, and one accident allegation when an unlatched door swung open and struck the adjacent vehicle while the driver was pulling into a parking space.

Description

In some of the affected vehicles, the brake pedal position switch may have been improperly adjusted. This may result in a delay in brake stop lamp illumination when the brake pedal is depressed and the service brakes have been activated. In situations of light brake pedal application, the stop lamps may not illuminate.

Delay or loss of brake stop lamp function may increase the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to adjust the stoplamp switch free of charge parts and labor.

Description

On your vehicle, an intermittent failure of the output speed sensor oss in the transmission may result in an unintended downshift to first gear.

Safety Risk

An unintended downshift into first gear can cause an abrupt wheel speed reduction, which could cause the rear tires to slide until the vehicle speed slows. This condition could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to update the powertrain control module pcm with software that will prevent an unintended downshift into first gear in the event of an intermittent oss failure, and to check for the presence of certain diagnostic trouble codes dtcs. This service will be performed free of charge parts and labor.

Description

On your vehicle, the brake master cylinder may allow brake fluid to leak into the brake booster. If the brake fluid reservoir is depleted below a pre-determined level, you will be alerted that brake system service is required by a combination of the following: an audible chime. A full screen message center alert. Illumination of the red brake warning indicator (shown to the left). If the brake fluid reservoir is depleted through continued vehicle operation, you may experience a change in brake pedal travel and feel, and increased pedal effort. If a loss of brake fluid is substantial, it can reduce brake function in the front wheels. Brake function in the rear wheels is unaffected by this condition.

Reduced brake function in the front wheels can extend stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicles. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace your vehicles brake master cylinder, and if the brake master cylinder is leaking, also replace the brake booster, free of charge (parts and labor).

Description

Some vehicles may experience a loss of brake fluid from the brake master cylinder reservoir into the brake booster. Loss of brake fluid can lead to visual and audible warnings of low brake fluid level to the operator and may lead to a change in brake pedal travel and feel. Ford is aware of nine accident allegations on the affected vehicles that might relate to this condition, with no injuries; and one alleged injury not related to the accidents.

Safety Risk

Depending on the amount of brake fluid loss from the brake master cylinder into the brake booster, the driver will experience an audible chime, message center alert, red brake warning light in the instrument cluster and may begin to experience a change in brake pedal travel and feel. In the event that a loss of brake fluid is substantial enough to reduce brake function to the front wheels, the driver may experience longer pedal travel, increased pedal effort, and extended stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash. Full braking function would remain in the rear wheel brake circuit.

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace your vehicles brake master cylinder free of charge parts and labor.
