Description
It may be possible that the bolt that secures the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear box is improperly installed on your vehicle. An improperly installed bolt can result in separation of the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear box.
Safety Risk
Separation of the intermediate steering shaft from steering gear box can result in the loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect and verify the intermediate steering shaft bolt is present and if not, a new bolt will be installed. Your dealer will then torque both of the intermediate steering shaft u-joint bolts free of charge parts and labor.
