Description

In some of the affected vehicles, brake fluid may leak from one or both front brake flexible hoses. If the brake fluid reservoir is depleted below a predetermined level, the brake fluid warning indicator light will illuminate.

You may experience an increase in pedal travel together with a reduction in the rate of deceleration, increasing the risk of a crash.

Parts are now available to repair your vehicles. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace both front brake flexible hoses free of charge parts and labor.

A door latch with a broken pawl spring tab typically results in a "door will not close" condition. Should the customer be able to latch the door, there is a potential that the door may unlatch while driving. Ford is aware of two allegations of injury (soreness) resulting from an unlatched door bouncing back when the customer attempted to close it, and one accident allegation when an unlatched door swung open and struck the adjacent vehicle while the driver was pulling into a parking space.

On your vehicle, it may be possible the transmission shifter cable bushing is damaged or missing.

Safety Risk

A damaged or missing bushing could prevent the shifter from moving the transmission into the intended gear position and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. The transmission may not be in the park position, even though the shifter position indicates that the vehicle was shifted to park. Exiting a vehicle without the transmission in the park position and without the application of the parking brake may allow the vehicle to roll, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

On your vehicle, it may be possible that the rear flexible brake hoses may leak. If the flexible brake hoses develops a leak, you may experience an increase in brake pedal travel together with an increase in stopping distance. If the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir becomes low, the red brake fluid warning indicator light will illuminate.

Certain 2017MY edge, fusion and mkz vehicles equipped with 2.0L gas engines and 6F35 transmissions may have been built with torque converters with weld studs that were inadequately welded.

Safety Risk

Loss of torque converter attachment to the engine flexplate can result in loss of motive power without warning while driving, which may increase the risk of a crash. The power steering, power brakes, electrical function and vehicle restraint systems will still continue to operate, and the transmission park function will not be affected.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the torque converter free of charge parts and labor.
