How do I check for SYNC or Digtal Experience updates?
You can view available Digital Experience®*, SYNC®** 4A, and SYNC 4 updates in your vehicle. For most other versions of SYNC, you will need to go to the Ford Support website.
Finding Updates
Select Ford Digital Experience or your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to verify if there are any updates available for your entertainment system. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.
Identifying Your SYNC Software Generation

Ford Digital Experience
- Select Settings on your vehicle's Digital Experience screen.
- Tap System.
- Choose Software Updates.
- Press Update Details to display any pending updates and previous update details.
SYNC 4A
- Tap the Settings or Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select Software Updates.
- Press Update Details to display any pending updates and previous update details.
SYNC 4
- Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Select Software Updates.
- Press Update Details to display any pending updates and previous update details.
SYNC 3 | SYNC with MyFord Touch®| SYNC Generation (Gen) 1.1 | SYNC Gen 1
- Visit the SYNC and Navigation Updates page.
- Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for update.
- Select the SYNC Update Available dropdown.
- If your SYNC software is current, you will see a green checkmark and a message stating that an update is not available for your vehicle.
- If your SYNC software is not current, you will see a triangle with an exclamation point (
). Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your software update.
