Why is my activation pending in FordPass®*?

If you tried to activate your vehicle and received an Activation Pending status, use the steps below.

Access Pending in FordPass

Select your FordPass App experience for activation and access troubleshooting steps.

FordPass App 4.X Experience

If your activation is pending in FordPass:

  1. When attempting to accept the in-vehicle prompt, ensure that your vehicle is:
    • On, running, in park, and in an open area with good cellular service.
    • Your vehicle must be running and not in Accessory mode. 
  2. Check your cellular strength and or Wi-Fi® connection.
    • Wi-Fi connection 
      • If Wi-Fi is turned off, turn Wi-Fi on and attempt to connect.
      • If Wi-Fi is turned on, turn Wi-Fi off and attempt to connect using cellular data.
    • Cellular connection 
      • If cellular data is turned off, turn cellular data on and attempt to connect.
      • If cellular data is turned on, turn cellular data off and attempt to connect using Wi-Fi.
  3. Are you connected to Bluetooth® in your vehicle? If so, disconnect your device from Bluetooth and try the activation again.
  4. Has it been longer than 90 seconds since you tried to activate? If not, wait at least 90 seconds for your vehicle to populate the acceptance prompt.
  5. Were you able to use commands in the past?
    1. If so, did you create a second FordPass account after deleting FordPass or attempting to log in? 
    2. If yes, you may have another email address that contains your authorized vehicle. Please log out and try logging in with your other email address.
  6. Are you getting a message that the vehicle has already been activated?
    1. Yes, but I am the only user - You may have another email address that contains your authorized vehicle. Please log out and try logging in with your other email address.
    2. Yes, but I am a secondary user - You will need approval from an authorized user. 
      1. Tap the Request Authorization tab if you will be an additional command user.
      2. A message will be sent to all current activated users. 
      3. They will receive a message in their app of your request.
      4. Once approved, you will have command access. 

If you attempted/confirmed the steps above and your vehicle did not activate, contact a guide for additional assistance.

Note: If you want to activate a vehicle and remove all existing activated users, you can perform a Master Reset

FordPass App 5.X Experience

If your access is pending in FordPass, this means your request is still pending approval or you have to complete the in-vehicle connection. 

Check Your Access Status:

  1. Open the FordPass App.
  2. Tap the Access Pending tile.
  3. Select Check My Access Request.
  4. One of the following options will appear:
    • Access Pending: This means an authorized driver has not approved your request. 
    • Access Denied: This means your request has been denied. 

Complete the Vehicle Connection:

  1. Safely enter your vehicle.
  2. Ensure that your vehicle is on, running, parked, and in a well-ventilated safe area.
  3. Confirm that your in-vehicle connectivity settings are on.
  4. Open the FordPass App.
  5. Tap the Start your Vehicle to Connect tile.
  6. Select I've Started My Vehicle.
  7. Read and accept the prompt on your vehicle screen. 
  8. Press Check Connection Status once you accept the in-vehicle prompt.

FordPass will route you back to the Vehicle screen and the remote commands (if available) should appear below your vehicle image.

Note: It may take up to two minutes for the connection to complete.
