Ford SYNC® Overview & Features | Ford Owner Support

Ford SYNC

It’s not old. It’s OG.

With hands-free calling, music streaming and text message reading capability, the original SYNC® (on select vehicles) still stands up today.

To use any of the phone features for SYNC — such as making hands-free calls or receiving text messages — you must pair your Bluetooth®-enabled device.

FAQs

Can I upgrade my older SYNC system hardware?

Unfortunately, no.

Can I stream music with my older SYNC technology?

Of course, as long as you pair your Bluetooth®-enabled device with SYNC you should be able to stream music, podcasts and other audio media.

Can I send texts with older SYNC technology?

No, you cannot. Early SYNC technology only allows for incoming messages to be read. You can, however, choose from a selection of responses when your vehicle is not moving and it is safe to do so.
