How do I transfer my phonebook to Ford Digital Experience or SYNC?

Transferring Your Contacts

Important: Your vehicle must be parked, running, and in an open, well-ventilated, and safe area.

Refer to the table below for instructions on transferring your contacts based on your vehicle’s model, year, and equipment.

2025 model year and newer vehicles equipped with Ford Digital Experience

Select the Vehicle icon on your Ford Digital Experience screen.
Choose Settings.
Pick Bluetooth®.
Select Add device. A prompt alerts you to search for your vehicle on your cell phone.
Choose your vehicle on your cell phone. A number appears on your in-vehicle screen and on your cell phone.
Confirm the numbers match. The Ford Digital Experience screen will indicate you have successfully paired your phone.
Approve the phonebook download request on your cell phone.

All 2017 model year and newer vehicles equipped with SYNC
2016 Ford Escape, Explorer, Edge, F-150, Focus, and Mustang vehicles equipped with SYNC
2015 Ford Edge, F-150, Focus, and Mustang vehicles equipped with SYNC

Pair your phone to SYNC.
Select Phone on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
Scroll to Phone Settings.
Choose OK.
Scroll to Phone Pref.
Pick OK.
Select OK under Auto-Download.
Scroll to Download Now.
Choose OK.

A pop-up window will display "Phonebook Downloading." When completed, it will display "Download Completed."

Note: If your vehicle's automatic phonebook downloading feature is enabled, each time you pair your phone with SYNC, SYNC will copy any changes to your phone's phonebook.

Most 2016 model year and older vehicles equipped with SYNC

Pair your phone to SYNC.
Select Phone on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
Scroll to Phone Settings.
Choose OK.
Scroll to Download Phonebook.
Pick OK.
Select OK under Confirm Download.

When the download is finished, "Downloaded" will be displayed.

Note: If the vehicle's automatic phonebook downloading feature is enabled, each time you pair your phone with SYNC, SYNC will copy any changes to your phone's phonebook.
