How does Amazon Alexa Built-in work with my Ford?
Amazon Alexa Built-in*, delivered through SYNC®** 4A and SYNC 4, allows you to interact with your vehicle using your voice, making it easier to play music, get directions, check traffic, manage home smart devices, and more.

Alexa Built-in Features
Combined with the FordPass®† App, you can:

- Listen to podcasts and audiobooks.
- Play games.

Alexa Built-in Requirements
To use Alexa Built-in, you need to have:

SYNC 4 or SYNC 4A with Enhanced Voice Recognition.
Note: If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, refer to the SYNC Visual Reference Guide which has example images of each SYNC generation.
- The vehicle added to your FordPass† account.
- FordPass® Connect†† fully activated.

An Amazon account for an Alexa login. For assistance creating an Amazon account, contact Amazon or go to the Amazon website.
Note: Amazon Prime is not required to use this feature.
Setting Up Alexa Built-in
Important: Your vehicle must be parked and running, and in an open location (e.g., free of overhead foliage, ceilings, etc.).
- Tap Settings or the Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
- Press Amazon Alexa.
- Select Get Started or Yes to view the QR code for the Amazon login page.
- Scan the QR code using your mobile device, tablet, or computer. For manual entry, use the site https://amazon.com/us/code.
- Log in to your Amazon account.
- Enter the code provided on your SYNC screen.
A confirmation screen will appear advising Alexa is now enabled, and you will have access to additional Amazon Alexa settings on your vehicle.
Important: If a code does not appear on your screen, contact Amazon for assistance.
Using Amazon Alexa Built-in
Say “Alexa,” followed by your question or command.
If Listen to Wake Word is turned off, press the Push to Talk button on the steering wheel. After the tone, simply say “Alexa,” followed by your question or command.
Alexa Built-in Subscription Details
With the purchase of a new vehicle, you will be enrolled in a complimentary:
- 3-year trial of Alexa Built-In that begins on your warranty start date.
- 30-day trial of Ford Premium Connectivity that begins on your warranty start date and receives in-app notifications to confirm feature activation.
Note: A credit card is not required to begin a Connected Services trial. Alexa Built-In and Ford Premium Connectivity are part of the Connected Services bundle.
You can purchase a Connected Services plan that is paid monthly based on your enrollment purchase date. Canceling a paid subscription before it expires entitles you to a prorated refund for the remaining days of the month.
You can access, view, and manage Connected Services through the FordPass† App or the Ford Connected Services website.

How do I set up or renew SYNC 4/SYNC 4A Connected Services?
*Feature is available on select vehicles. Features may vary based on model year, trim, options, packages, and supply availability. Use the Build and Price tool to view feature availability on current models. If you have questions or need more information, reference your Owner’s Manual or contact your Ford Dealer.
**Don’t drive while distracted. Use voice-operated systems when possible; don’t use handheld devices while driving. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.
