How to make a backup passcode for Phone As A Key™* with FordPass®**?
In the event your Phone As A Key device is lost or broken, a backup code can be created to work in its place. This occurs on your SYNC®*** screen after you set up your Phone As A Key device.
Note: If you skipped the initial prompt for set up, use these steps to create your backup passcode.
- Access your vehicle and take your key fob with you.
Important:
- The key fob presence is required when setting up your backup passcode.
- It serves as an additional layer of control and authentication to ensure the person setting up the passcode has the authority to do so.
- On your SYNC touchscreen, you will be presented with the option to create a Backup Passcode.
- To proceed, tap Yes.
- You are taken to an instructional screen with setup requirements.
- Select Continue.
- If more than one Phone As A Key device is detected, you must select which one you want to be backed up.
- Enter your desired passcode. Note: Your passcode must meet the system requirements which are at least six characters of letters, numbers, and special characters or 10 characters if all numbers (e.g., #Ford1 or 2569013473).
- Re-enter your passcode.
- A pop-up displays the completed and remaining steps. You may also create a new keypad code at this time.
- If you choose to create a new keypad code, you will be prompted to enter the code on the screen.
- Re-enter the code.
- The creation success screens displays.
- Tap Finish.
Creating a backup passcode post Phone As A Key set up

- Tap Backup Start Passcode.
- Press Create Backup Start Passcode.
- Select Continue.
- If more than one Phone As A Key device is detected, you must select which one you want to be backed up.
- Enter your desired passcode. Note: Your passcode must meet the system requirements which are at least six characters of letters, numbers, and special characters or 10 characters if all numbers (e.g., #Ford1 or 2569013473).
- Re-enter your passcode.
