How do I use media devices with SYNC?

You can play audio from your media devices (e.g. smartphone, digital music player, etc.) through your SYNC®* system using the instructions below.

Using Media Devices with SYNC

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to use your media device. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option. 

Identifying Your SYNC Generation

Either:

Your SYNC generation will appear on the right side of the page under the SYNC Current Version heading.

Using Media Devices with Stored Media 

  1. Plug your device into one of your vehicle's USB ports. 
  2. Tap Audio on your vehicle's SYNC screen.

  3. Select Sources.
  4. Choose the USB option.

You can play, pause, or skip tracks on their media device with options that function similar to a traditional CD player.

Using Media Devices with Streaming Media (Pandora, Spotify, etc.)

  1. Make sure the media app is up and running on your device. 
  2. Press the Voice Command button. 
  3. Say, "Bluetooth Audio."
  4. Say, "Play."
