Why do I do if SYNC®* AppLink®** does not recognize my apps?

Here are a few troubleshooting tips to ensure SYNC AppLink can access your compatible mobile apps.

Ensure you have a compatible device

  • Android™*** devices 4.0 or higher
  • iOS®**** devices 6 or higher

Make sure the app is compatible with SYNC AppLink
Visit the App Catalog page on the Ford Owner website to see a list of SYNC AppLink compatible apps.

Ensure your mobile app is the latest version
Download and install or update the latest version of your SYNC-compatible mobile apps on your device.

Configure and personalize your app account.
Make sure you have an active account for the app you just downloaded. Some apps will work automatically with no setup. Others require you to configure your personal settings and personalize your experience by creating stations or favorites. It’s best to complete configuration and personalization before connecting your device to SYNC.

Confirm that the app is running on your device
apps must be installed, open, and running in the foreground.

Connect your device to SYNC to use SYNC AppLink

  • Android: Connect your paired phone to SYNC through Bluetooth®*****.
  • iPhone®: You must connect your device via USB and have a compatible app running in the background.

Restart the app
Sometimes apps do not properly close and re-open their connection to SYNC. Close and restart the apps to help SYNC find the application.

*Don’t drive while distracted or while using handheld devices. Use voice-operated systems when possible. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.

**Commands may vary by phone and AppLink software.
