How do I pay for public charging?
You can use the FordPass®* App to activate and pay for charging at any charger in the BlueOval™ Charge Network. You can also access 250 kWh of complimentary charging at Electrify America** stations. Before you start, make sure you have activated the BlueOval Charge Network. Click here to see how.
Powering Up
If a charger is In-Network:
- Open the FordPass App
- Select View Chargers
- Adjust your filters
- Select the charge station
- If applicable, select DC CCS (DC Fast Charger) or J-1772 (Level 2 slower charger) depending on the speed you prefer or available.
- Select the charger name or number in the app that matches the Charge Station ID you wish to activate.
- Check for instructions at your charging site to determine if you should plug in or activate the charger first
- Activate your session via the FordPass App
You can follow the step-by-step instructions by selecting the video or viewing the guide.
When you're done charging, the credit card in your FordPay Wallet will be billed for the session.
If a charger is not In-Network, you won't be able to activate and pay for your session via the FordPass App, and you'll need to follow the instructions at the charging site.
Using Ford Plug & Charge
If you're at an Electrify America station, take advantage of Plug & Charge — a complimentary feature designed for all-electric Ford vehicles that lets you pay for charging just by plugging in, no extra codes or cards required.
All you need to do is:
- Pull up and park at an Electrify America station
- Turn off your vehicle
- Plug in to automatically begin charging
View the Plug & Charge video here.
If you've already used your 250 kWh of complimentary charging** at Electrify America fast charging stations, the station will communicate with your EV to bill the credit card in your FordPay Wallet according to the station's per kWh or per minute rate.
You can check your balance in the FordPass App:

You can find Plug & Charge stations by looking for the blue P&C rectangle on the charger details page.
