Driving Dynamics

To help the driver and vehicle gracefully negotiate curves, standard Torque Vectoring Control39   was designed to help the front wheels grip and steer better while cornering or driving in slippery conditions. There's also the available PowerShift automatic transmission designed to combine enhanced fuel efficiency and fun-to-drive performance with operational convenience. Other performance features on the Focus are electric power-assisted steering (EPAS), Active Grille Shutters* and the new six-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission.

2017 Focus ST

Focus ST = Power and Performance

The Focus ST is equipped for the driving aficionado and features an electric power-assisted steering rack that makes steering less sensitive on straightaways and adjusts for increased sensitivity in the corners. There are also front and rear disc brakes, Torque Vectoring Control and variable-ratio electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) with torque steer control for an enhanced, more confident steering feel. And of course, Focus ST is powered by our dynamic 2.0L EcoBoost® engine that delivers 252 hp and 270 lb.-ft. of torque.*

The Focus RS with Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring has taken the 2.3L engine to another level with its unique turbocharger, cooling and exhaust. Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS)

EPAS automatically adjusts to deliver precise responses at high speed and optimal maneuverability at lower speeds. Pull-drift compensation continually measures driver steering input, adapts to changing road conditions and helps adjust for slight directional shifts, like uneven road surfaces or crosswinds. All of this comes together to deliver smooth responsiveness and excellent control. The ST model is additionally enhanced with variable EPAS, providing the performance customer with even more precise steering, aggressive torque steer tuning and the ability to accelerate while maintaining grip – even on uneven road surfaces.
