The 2018 F-150. Six powerful engines. Now including diesel.

Ford engineers work to make the F-150 pickup better every year and push the competition to try to keep up on the performance front. There are six engine choices, naturally aspirated and turbocharged, including the new 3.0L Power Stroke® V6 Turbo Diesel and the awesome high-output 3.5L EcoBoost ® in the Baja-bred F-150 Raptor. Auto Start-Stop Technology is on all engines. And five of the six engines feature the segment-exclusive* 10-speed automatic.

The 3 point 0 liter power stroke turbo diesel engine

New 3.0L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel

A diesel alternative enters the F-150 lineup with the new 3.0L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel engine. Optional on LARIAT, King Ranch® and Platinum models, it’s built on the legacy of the tried-and-true 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel found in the Super Duty®. This engine is designed to deliver a new level of power and capability for drivers who tow and haul frequently. It’s ready to make its presence felt – with best-in-class diesel horsepower of 250 at 3,250 rpm and best-in-class diesel torque of 440 lb.-ft. at just 1,750 rpm. That translates to impressive capability too, including best-in-class diesel towing and best-in-class diesel payload.* On top of it all, there’s a best-in-class EPA-estimated rating of 30 highway mpg**.

*Max towing on F-150 LARIAT SuperCab or SuperCrew, ® 6.5' box, 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel, 4x2, Trailer Tow Pkg. and 3.55 rear axle. Max payload on F-150 LARIAT SuperCab, 6.5' box, 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel, 4x2. Class is Full-Size Pickups under 8,500 lbs. GVWR based on Ford segmentation.

**EPA-estimated rating of 22 city/30 hwy/25 combined mpg, 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel, 4x2. Actual mileage will vary. Class is Full-Size Pickups under 8,500 lbs. GVWR based on Ford segmentation.

Impressive 3.5L EcoBoost performance

3.5L ECOBOOST®

Not satisfied with the high power ratings of their 3.5L EcoBoost® , Ford engineers designed the second generation of this potent EcoBoost with even higher ratings of 375 horsepower and best-in-class* 470 lb.-ft. of torque, beating out all gas and diesel competitors. This engine delivers the F-150 max best-in-class* tow rating too. Big improvements: Fordfirst port fuel and direct injection (PFDI) with two injectors per cylinder—one in the air intake port and another inside the cylinder—to improve power and efficiency. All-new twin turbos for greater on-demand power. A more responsible plus high-end-efficient 10-speed transmission.

A 2.7-liter V6 with impressive fuel economy and robust performance

2.7L ECOBOOST®

How does the 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 deliver impressive robust performance and capability?* The answer: features like Ford-first port fuel and direct injection (PFDI) with two injectors per cylinder (one in the air intake port, another inside the cylinder), plus upper block and cylinders made of the high-strength compacted graphite iron used in the Super Duty® 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel. And as for strength, the 2.7L EcoBoost powered an aluminum-alloy body F-150 prototype that competed in the 2013 Baja 1000, finishing the race with needing just an air filter replacement. Afterwards, engineers drove that street-legal F-150 back to Michigan.
*Power ratings: 325 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque.
Advanced V6 engineered for performance and efficiency

NEW 3.3L TI-VCT V6

With responsive power and capability,* the new 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 can handle the demands of everyday jobs. The twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) opens/closes the valves in precise duration to suit operating conditions, so power output is optimized at every point across the performance band. The 3.3L also has the Ford-first port fuel and direct-injection system (PFDI): two injectors per cylinder, one mounted in the air intake port and another positioned inside the cylinder. The 6-speed automatic transmisssion has three selectable modes to suit the driving condition: Normal, Tow-Haul, and Sport.
*290 horsepower; 265 lb.-ft. of torque.
Legendary 5.0-liter Ford V8 muscle

5.0L TI-VCT V8

This legendary Ford V8 delivers even more muscle than ever and delivers best-in-class* payload. Experience robust 395 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, thanks to twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) and new direct injection (DI). Ti-VCT optimizes performance across the entire power band to match driving conditions. DI injects gas at high pressure directly and precisely into each cylinder, extracting as much power as possible from every drop of fuel. The 5.0L offers a CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package for conversion to compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane autogas.** A Snow Plow Prep Package is also available.

*When properly equipped. Class is Full-Size Pickups under 8,500 lbs. GVWR based on Ford segmentation.

**Vehicle will be equipped with the standard factory gasoline fuel system. This package does not include compressed natural gas/propane fuel tanks and lines, sold separately.

High-performance Raptor powerplant for extreme off-roading

RAPTOR DOHC 24-VALVE, HIGH-OUTPUT 3.5L ECOBOOST®

The Baja-bred F-150 Raptor is perfectly at home on a typical paved road. But going from mild to wild on the most unforgiving terrain – now we’re in territory where the Raptor excels with its extraordinary capability, beginning with raw power. Unique to the Raptor is a twin-turbo, intercooled DOHC 24-valve, 3.5L EcoBoost® with port fuel and direct-injection system and 10-speed automatic. This high-output EcoBoost generates more power than the previous 6.2L V8 – a massive 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque.
Advanced 10-speed transmission

10-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

F-150 EcoBoost® and V8 engines deliver their power through an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission. Compared with the 6-speed gearbox it replaced, the 10-speed delivers improved overall performance, with enhanced acceleration at the low and mid ranges of the power band. Features include optimized wide-span gear spacing coupled with drag-reduction actions plus three overdrive gears. What’s more, you can choose from selectable modes: Normal, Tow-Haul, Snow-Wet, EcoSelect, and Sport.
Auto Start-Stop Technology reduces fuel consumption and vehicle emissions during city driving.

AUTO START-STOP TECHNOLOGY

Auto Start-Stop Technology is a feature on all F-150 engines. When you come to a stop, the engine shuts off to save fuel and restarts immediately when the brake is released. Designed smart for truck applications, Auto Start-Stop deactivates when it wouldn’t be needed such as when you’re towing a trailer or running in 4-wheel drive.
