Sunrise to 8 a.m.
Waking to the smells of coffee and breakfast cooking, the early hours will be spent preparing for the day ahead and breaking down camp in preparation of departing on the trail.
8 a.m.
Depart camp for a full day on the Rubicon Trail. Today, the group will drive from Spider Lake to Rubicon Springs base camp. Along the way, the group will stop at Buck Island Lake for an afternoon swim. This is a gorgeous location for lunch along the trail.
Lunch on trail (attendees are responsible for all lunches and snacks). After lunch, the group will make the arduous trek around Buck Island Lake. This section of the Rubicon Trail is the most challenging and is slow to navigate. Patience and a positive attitude are a required skill set for today’s trail ride.
5 p.m.
Arrive at Rubicon Springs and set up camp. Dinner in camp will be a meal worthy of the efforts extended over the day’s excursion and enjoyed in the beauty of Rubicon Springs with the sounds of the Rubicon River running alongside camp. After dinner, the group will enjoy an evening under the stars and around the campfire with s’mores and stories from the trail.
